Getting listed in the Top 10 Search Results for a particular keyword on Big search engine daddies like Google, Yahoo, and MSN Live Search is not an easy job. Especially when the competition in the Search Engine market is so tough. Every single web master or even Blogger wants to get High search engine ranking position, the reason is that higher the ranking means more traffic and similarly more revenue in return.

Wordpress is indeed the best open-source blogging software in the internet blogging industry. But still, we can take more out of its Search Engine friendly features than it already provides, all thanx to the development of some plugins.

If you search Google for ‘Best SEO Plugins’ you will find lot of blogs with their list of best search engine optimization plugins for wordpress but everyone has got its priorities. And proudly I can say that the SEO Plugins that I shall share with you will get your blog listed in Top Search Engine Ranking in less than 2 weeks.

1. Ultimate Tag Warrior 3

The All-In-One SEO Plugin for Wordpress is a magic. Created by Christine Davis, and as she says, this plugin is a multi-header hydra of a plugin with so many features. The plugin boasts features like adding tags in posts manually, using an AJAX box or even by using special syntax from external editors. You can also fetch keywords from Yahoo! Keyword suggestion service. Once you enter the keywords you have just entered a multi-dimensional zone which allows you to utilize the potential of this plugin to as much as you like. You can add these keywords to the META of the post (Very useful feature because Search Engines even today rely on Meta Keywords to check the frequency of a keyword content on a web page), You can also Tag Technorati with the help of these keywords (Useful to get traffic for a particular keyword) and You can make a Tag Cloud (Helps your blog visitors search for top rated and relevant content). This plugin, if I m not exaggerating is your wordpress SEO oxygen

2. Head META Description

Created by Kaf Oseo, this plugin is also one of the search engine love-birds The plugins provides an automatic META Description tag for your blog, inserting a dynamic description depending on the query-type. Even today, like META Keywords most of the Top Search Engine daddies rely on this META to get information about a specific web page thus helping in better and fast indexing. You can configure the plugin as you desire. One can change the description length, excerpt length, custom description key etc. A useful plugin to to help you get listed on SERP.

3. Feedburner Feed Replacement

As described by O’Reilly in Web 2.0 standards that Feeds are next generation of content syndication that help you fetch latest news from a blog/site without actually visiting the site. With the advent of Web 2.0 standards Feed burning has become popular as you can get site updates right at your desktop and has proved itself instrumental in building web traffic to ones site. Wordpress also has built-in RSS, RSS2 and ATOM Feeds however they do not give detailed statistics about Feed Subscribers, Feed Burns etc. Steve Smith makes it easy for us to use content syndication feeds with Wordpress. The Feedburner Feed Replacement Plugin that he created forwards all your blog Feed traffic to Feedburner thus giving you a much broader zone to handle the way you want your feeds to run. Feedburner helps you manage your feeds in a very effective way by providing you a complete administration panel to alter/change the behavior of your feeds.

4. No Ping Wait

Building traffic and getting readers to read the content on your Blog can be quite a difficult task at start. Thanks to Wordpress Update Services Feature it lets a blogger ping the top pinging sites and content services. By default, Wordpress updates only 3 Content Pinging services. But you can add more to the list at ‘Wordpress Admin > Options > Writing’:

However this can slow down posting a lot and can even break your post markup. For this we have a magic plugin called No Ping Wait by Robert Deaton. What this plugin does is that it speeds up posting by moving generic pings to execute-pings.php thus making pinging a totally different process to posting and in return your posts are published fast and even pinged to all pinging sites.

Note: The author’s plugin site is down due to some reasons. If you scroll down, you can download the plugin archived in Wordpress SEO Plugin Pack by Voooz.

5. Google Sitemaps

This plugin, created by Arne Brachhold, no wonder, is the King of all SEO Plugins for Wordpress. XML Sitemaps are very important key elements to get indexed by the Search Engine Daddies. This plugin creates an XML Sitemap of your blog on the fly which is supported by Google, MSN Live Search, Yahoo and other big search engines. Getting Indexed in Top Search Engines is the first and primary goal of a web master, the SEO comes after it. Indeed a great and Cant-Live-Without Plugin.

  • Download Google Sitemaps

6. Social Bookmarks Plugin

Another important element in Web 2.0 standards is Social Bookmarking Sites. These sites help you bookmark pages/posts/blogs/sites easily for later view and lets you share stuff with internet users like a social community. The top social bookmark sites incorporate StumbleUpon, Digg, Del.icio.us, Technorati, Furl, Ma.Gnolia, etc. This plugin, made by Apostolos Dountsis makes it easy for your blog readers to share your content/post with other readers on the web thus helping you in building a descent traffic and getting a good Search Engine ranking.

  • Download Social Bookmarks

7. WWW Redirect

Most of you would disagree with me if I say that this is a very important SEO plugin for wordpress too but still it has its uses. Created by Justin Shattuck, the plugin redirects all your domain traffic to your WWW domain. What it does is that it redirects variations of identical domain requests to a consistent Uri (i.e. http://abc.com to http://www.abc.com ). This is very important and must not be ignored in cases such as determination of Google Pagerank. If you do not redirect all your traffic to WWW trust me on this one you will most likely have 2 different pageranks for your blog. One will be of the WWW domain and the other will be of No-WWW domain. Thus the plugin is effective in getting you a constant Google Pagerank which is an evaluation of your site popularity in Search Engines.

Well that were the SEO Plugins i wanted to share with my audience they shall help you get a good Search Engine Ranking soon. I apologise if I missed some other SEO plugins in the list As a delight you can download all these plugins in one go from Voooz by downloading the Wordpress SEO Plugin Pack. Happy Surfing Enjoy

Google Reader Empowers RSS Feeds

As Google announced recently on the official Google Reader Blog that it will now be providing detailed subscriber count stats for Feed Publishers. The stats will highlight readers that have subscribed to your feeds through Google Reader or Google Personalized Homepage. In short, a mere free Treat for bloggers like us.

Google also plans to introduce more RSS features that shall boost the Google product economy

The new feature will be useful for Feed Publishers to look at their feed subscribers more dynamically and in a efficient manner. They can seperate the number of feed subscribers who have subscribed through Google Reader or Google Personalized Homepage from other feed subscribers who use other means to fetch the site content.

I must say it shall give Webmasters and Bloggers a new dimension to look at the way People read their site content and shall help them understand the reader psychology

Wordpress 2.1 SEO Plugins

Finally after a struggle of almost 2 hours to make everything work right and better I have successfully upgraded to Wordpress 2.1.x series without any problems.

First it took me 30 whole minutes to check my older plugins compatibility with the new Wordpress 2.1.x series and download the latest updated version of those plugins from the authors site and thankfully all of those plugins are fully compatible with Wordpress 2.1.x now and are running smoothly except for some odd ones that I shall discuss further.

wordpress

As in my earlier post I have discussed some Worpress SEO Plugins, here I will do the same but specifically for the Wordpress 2.1.x series because a lot of Wordpress SEO Plugins are incompatible with this new series. A list of SEO Plugins for Wordpress 2.1.x is given below:

1 . Feedburner Feed Replacement

‘Forwards all feed traffic to Feedburner while letting through some important User-Agents’

The Plugin was updated on the author’s site to include compatibility for the Wordpress 2.1.x series

  • Get Feedburner Feed Replacement

2 . Google XML Sitemaps

‘This generator will create a sitemaps.org compliant sitemap of your Wordpress Blog which is supported By Google, MSN Search and YAHOO’

This plugin has also been updated with a beta release to make it work with Wordpress 2.1.x and a lot of new plugin features have been added such as Yahoo Blog Update Notifier and Popularity Contest addon capability.

  • Get Google XML Sitemaps

3 . Head META Description

‘Insert HTML META description tag: excerpt/content brief for post/Page, description for category, and blog tagline for everything else’

Though the development of this plugin has ceased and the plugin author is no longer updating it but if you have a bit of SEO knowledge you will know that you cannot live without this plugin if you want a good Search Engine Ranking. Besides the plugin is simple and does not need any update. Works smoothly with Wordpress 2.1.x as tested by me.

  • Get Head META Description

4 . No Ping Wait

‘Speeds up posting by moving generic pings to execute-pings.php’

A must have in case you ping a large number of blog pinging/blog updating services. The plugin has not been updated for Wordpress 2.1.x but works smoothly with it and you might not find this plugin at its authors site so its available here at Voooz.

5 . Popularity Contest

‘This will enable ranking of your posts by popularity; using the behavior of your visitors to determine each post’s popularity’

The Plugin caused a problem for me in the Admin section. A fatal memory-size-limit error caused when I tried to activate it in the Admin panel. I m not sure whether it was only for me or is it some bug in WP but I applied a small fix that made the plugin working smoothly. it requires adding a small line to admin-functions.php in your wp-admins folder. So if anyone of you experiences a similar fatal error and wants the solution just post in a comment and I will reply back with the solution.

Update: Read this carefully please. If you upload this plugin and activate it in your Wordpress 2.1.x you will mostly like get a fatal error pointing to admin-functions.php saying something like memory overload. Now you have two choices

  1. Simply delete the plugin and not use it and everything will be back to normal

  2. Use the plugin with a slight modification in your admin-functions.php

For those like me who choose to ‘use it’ follow this simple procedure:

Open your admin-functions.php in your {blog-directory}/wp-admin/admin-functions.php and add this line

ini_set(”memory_limit”,”16M”);

before

function write_post() {

$result = wp_write_post();

if( is_wp_error( $result ) )

wp_die( $result->get_error_message() );

else

return $result;

}

so it will finally look like this

ini_set(”memory_limit”,”16M”);

function write_post() {

$result = wp_write_post();

if( is_wp_error( $result ) )

wp_die( $result->get_error_message() );

else

return $result;

}

and save it and yourdone Now you can use the plugin without any error.

Technically speaking, this simple modification will increase the memory allocation of your admin-functions.php file which is initially set to 8MB.

  • Get Popularity Contest

6 . Share This

‘Let your visitors share a post/page with others. Supports e-mail and posting to social bookmarking sites’

The plugin works fine with Wordpress 2.1.x as I have tested myself. Just remember there is no need to upload the prototype.js file in the plugin folder to your Wordpress wp-includes directory. So no need to be confused and use the plugin as it is.

  • Get Share This

7 . Ultimate Tag Warrior

‘Ultimate Tag Warrior is a tagging plugin, that’s heavy on tag visualisation and its the heart of Wordpress users’

Actually at the authors site the plugin has not been updated for support with Wordpress 2.1.x so no need to go to the author’s site. But due to its heavy demand I have updated the plugin files to work with Wordpress 2.1.x and the plugin can be downloaded here at Voooz.com

8 . WWW Redirect:

‘Redirects variations of identical domain requests to a consistent uri (i.e. http://abc.com to http://www.abc.com ). Useful to get a consistent Pagerank’

Th plugin is helpful to get a consistent Pagerank at with-www and without-www of your site URI. Plugin works best with Wordpress 2.1.x as tested by me.

  • Get WWW Redirect

Upgrade Note: When you upgrade to Wordpress 2.1.x from an older version and do not see the Visual Rich Text Editor in the Write Post try deleting your browser cache and try again. Just a heads up to all as I experienced the same issue.

Tips On How To Spice Up Your Blog

Tips on How To Spice Up Your Blog and Increase your Readership.

The Blogosphere is saturated with new upcoming tactics of spicing up your blog so that your blog can stand out from the other blogs in a unique and fashionable manner. However finding new ways of spicing up your blog can be really difficult in times where you have to act fact and efficiently.I have another approach. Why cant we borrow the ideas of people whom we admire in our Blogosphere and give them the reward in return to the Ideas that we borrow from them. You see ideas are not invented they are discovered.

Therefore after taking a long break, in which I have been busy in my studies, I have decided to write a post that tells bloggers how to spice up their blog by borrowing tips from some very famous bloggers and rewarding the.

Here go all the tips.

Tip 1: Create A Static Random Read Headline:

This tactic impressed me the most as it makes your blog look unique and like a knowledge database. I found it on RishiRajs Blog and I found it really interesting and informative for blog readers. The best thing about this tactic, that Rishi has adopted, is that the headline news ticker makes your blog look more like a article industry and whether or not you like the article headline or not you are curious to click it and read it.

I am not exactly sure what plugin Rishi is using for the Random Read but I assume he must be using the Random Post Plugin by WASABI

Tip 2: Create a Dynamic Random Post Ticker:

Similar to the above tip but quite different in look and feel as it provides you with a totally dynamic Random post ticker near the header of your blog. I found this one on Eches Blog and it seriously looks amazing if it blends your blog well.

Tip 3: Create a Blended Google Custom Search:

This comes from the Young Genius Rishi too. I love the way the guy has implemented and used the full potential of Google Custom Search and applied it on his blog. The search page is totally template blended and doesnt give you even a 1% hint that it is something out of the default template. It actually replaces the Wordpress default search feature by Google Coop which can not only give your readers a Google view of your blog but can also help you generate a good revenue.

Tip 4: Make Your Feed Icons More Spicy:

Another great way to spice your blog is to have some sizzling RSS Icons that make your blog look lively and brighten up your blog feeds.

Such similar Sizzling and Spicy RSS Icons are found on Enblogopedia created by its author Ibrahim for different sizes of these funky RSS Icons take a look at Connected Internet

I would like to give credit to Eches for the cool AddThis RSS Subscribtion icons that he introduced me to. I also give credit to Eches for the classy hovering subscription feed icon that you can view at his blog on the left.

Tip 5: Create an Animated Fav Icon:

TechnoSpot gives us a great example of how to have a spicy looking animated Fav Icon for a Blog

TechnoSpot really makes itself stand out when it comes to the classy fav icon. An excellent Innovation Ashish.

Tip 6: Make a Rotating Header Collection:

This great innovation comes from my very inspirational Sharique Bhai all over from Serendipity. He has indeed been my very great inspiration when it comes to educational blogs.

At his blog The Rotating Header Collection that he shares is the best way in which one can sizzle up a blog.

Share more and More will be Added.
